Election Commissioner Mahbub Talukder has called on people to cast their vote without any fear or intimidation.
He made the call while talking to reporters after exercising his franchise at the Ispahani Girls’ School and College polling station in Dhaka city’s Moghbazar.
As he was asked about the election atmosphere, he said, “Ask yourself about this and you will get the answer.”
He alleged that he did not see any opposition agent at the polling station where he cast his vote, indicating the lack of the election atmosphere.
Talukder also claimed that he was getting complaints about the election from many parts in the country.
Asked whether he was giving any instruction to settle those complaints, he declined to speak about this.
Voting in the 11th parliamentary election has started at 8:00 am and it will end at 4:00 pm, amid opposition fears and apprehensions of rigged balloting.
