The national flag carrier has constituted a six-member investigation committee over the crash landing of its Dash-8 aircraft at the Yangon International Airport in Myanmar.
Shoeb Chowdhury, chief of Biman Bangladesh Airlines' flight safety, is heading the committee, Shakil Meraj, general manager (public relations) of national flag carrier Biman, told the media on Thursday morning.
The committee will find out how the aircraft veered off the runway while landing at the Myanmar airport, he said.
"Weather in Yangon was poor due to the presence of a thunderstorm in the area," local media reported citing the Aviation Safety Network, which covers air accident and safety issues.
Early in the morning of the day, Biman brought home its 17 passengers of Yangon-Dhaka BG060, the returned flight of the crashed plane, on a special flight from Myanmar.
Biman's aircraft Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 with 33 people aboard veered off the runway while landing at the Yangon airport around 6:30pm on Wednesday, leaving all of them more or less injured.
Nineteen of them were then rushed to North Okkalapa Hospital in Yangon. Of them, four were released after giving primary aid later at night.
In an announcement on its Facebook page, Myanmar Department of Civil Aviation said the airport re-opened at 9:01pm local time with a part of the runway next to the accident site being still nonoperational.
It advised the travellers to contact their airlines for flight updates.
