Members of Border guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered 10 gold bars, weighing 1.5 kg, from a mango orchard at Putkhali village in Benapole on Friday.

On information, a team of BGB-21 raided the area and recovered gold bars worth Tk 5 million in an abandoned condition, said Lieutenant colonel Tariqul Hakim, commanding officer of BGB-21.

However, none was arrested in this connection as the smugglers managed to flee the scene sensing the presence of the border guards, reports UNB.

A case was filed following the incident and the seized gold bars were deposited to Benapole Custom House.
