BD missions abroad mark Independence Day

Bangladesh missions abroad on Monday celebrated the 48th Independence and National Day paying glowing tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the Liberation War martyrs.

Messages from President Md Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam were read out by officers.

The missions celebrated the day with elaborate programmes, including hoisting of the national flag and discussion meetings.

Special prayers were offered seeking divine blessings for Bangabandhu, his family members, who were killed along with him on August 15, 1975 and the Liberation War martyrs.

Officers and staff of the missions and their family members joined simultaneous singing of national anthem -- Amar Sonar Bangla -- at the respective missions abroad, reports UNB.
