The pending issue like that concerning Teesta water sharing is unlikely to get priority at the upcoming joint consultative commission (JCC) meeting between India and Bangladesh.

The meeting will be held in New Delhi on February 08.

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen is scheduled to reach the Indian capital on February 07.

According to foreign ministry officials, economic issues, especially project implementation status under the Indian line of credit, connectivity, energy cooperation and counter-terrorism will bulk large.

To this end, an inter-ministerial preparatory meeting was held at the foreign ministry last week.

Sources said pending issues like Teesta was put aside mainly for the joint river commission meeting.

The inter-ministerial meeting discussed the issues such as connectivity and the Indian line of credit at length, an official said.

Mr Momen will hold a separate meeting with his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj during his visit.

This will be his first overseas tour as a foreign minister.

Talking to the FE, Mr Momen said, "India is our closest neighbour and friend."

"This will be a courtesy visit. I hope we will understand each other better through this tour," he mentioned.

As to whether he would raise Teesta and Rohingya issues during his parley with Ms Swaraj, Mr Momen said the whole gamut of bilateral issues might come up.

"We have no particular issue in mind," he maintained.
