Bangladesh imposes stricter pandemic restrictions in seven districts

Bangladesh has imposed stricter restrictions on work and movement in seven districts from Tuesday to June 30 as coronavirus cases and deaths are surging.

In a notice on Monday, the Cabinet Division announced these restrictions for Manikganj, Narayanganj, Munshiganj, Gazipur, Madaripur, Rajbari and Gopalganj, reports bdnews24.com.

Cabinet secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam also held an emergency press briefing on Monday over the matter.

According to UNB, the circular said emergency services like transportation of agricultural equipment and inputs (seeds, fertilizer, insecticides, agri machinery), crops, food items, relief activities, health services, Covid-19 vaccination, water, power, gas, fire service, port activities, telephone, internet services, mass media (electronic and print), private security services, postal services and offices related to emergency services, their employees, vehicles will remain out of the purview of the restrictions.
