As many as 52 women were raped, 22 gang raped and five were murdered after rape across the country in the first month of 2019, Bangladesh Mahila Parishad (BMP) said.
A total of 298 incidents of violence against women occurred in the same period of time, the BMP said on Sunday.
The women’s human rights organisation in its report also revealed that 23 incidents of rape and rape attempts occured in the first day of January this year.
In 2018, a total of 3,918 women and children across the country became victims of violence.
Some 942 women and children were raped and 182 were gang raped in the last year.
