36 youths return from India after serving jail term

A total of 36 Bangladeshi youths returned home through Benapole check post on Saturday after serving one year jail term in an Indian prison.

Indian police handed them over to Benapole Immigration Policea round 7pm, said Tariqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Benapole Check Post Police Station.

They are hailing from Khulna, Barisal and Norail districts.

They illegally entered the Indian Territory two years back without valid documents through Jessore border in search of good jobs, said the OC.

Later, Indian police arrested them from Kerala town. After a case was filed against them, an Indian court sentenced them to one year imprisonment each for crossing the border without valid documents and sent them to Kerala Central Jail.

On completion of the jail term there, the Indian authority sent them back.

The returnees will be handed over to their respective families, police said, reports UNB.
