1st-ever ‘Bangabandhu Chair’ awaits inauguration in Thailand

The first-ever "Bangabandhu Chair" will be inaugurated at the Premier Technology Institute of Bangkok on Thursday.

The "Bangabandhu Chair" is a PhD-level doctoral fellowship endowed by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to the AIT for research on the contemporary topic of 'Sustainable and Integrated Smart Energy Modelling' in the context of Bangladesh and other developing countries.

The Chair has been named after the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as an effort of the Embassy of Bangladesh in Bangkok to permanently preserve his footprints in Thailand.

Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali will jointly inaugurate it as a "unique initiative" to permanently preserving Bangabandhu's profile and identity in Thailand, with Foreign Minister of Thailand Don Pramudwinai.

Mahmood Ali will hold bilateral talks with his Thai counterpart followed by the joint inauguration ceremony of the "Bangabandhu Chair" at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand.

An agreement on exemption of visa for the holders of diplomatic passports will also be signed between Bangladesh and Thailand on the same occasion, said the Bangladesh Embassy in Bangkok.

Before that the foreign minister will call on Prime Minister of Thailand General Prayut Chan-o-cha and attend the "Bangabandhu Lecture" at the AIT.

He will also unwrap the historic 7th March speech of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman translated in Thai Language.

Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Nasrul Hamid will accompany the foreign minister during the inauguration, reports UNB.
