142 doctors, 48 journalists die in pandemic

At least 142 physicians in the country have died of Covid-19 so far while the total number of infections among the health workers have exceeded 8,200, according to a report of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA).

The deceased include dental surgeons, said the apex body of the physicians.

BMA expressed deep condolences to the victims’ families, saying the contribution of the physicians in such a situation should not be forgotten.

As many as 2,910 doctors, 1,998 nurses and 3,295 other health workers got infected since the first virus case was reported in the country in March last year.

Meanwhile, at least 34 journalists died of Covid-19 while 14 more died with the coronavirus-like symptoms across the country as of April 15.
