Neurosurgeon Prof Kanak Kanti Barua is going be next vice-chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMUU).
Barua, the chairman of the Neurosurgery Department and dean of the Surgery Department, was informed about the appointment by the health ministry on Thursday.
A leader of the professionals’ body supporting the ruling Awami League, Prof Barua will replace Prof Kamrul Hasan Khan.
According to bdnews24.com, he will remain in the post for three years after taking office on March 24, when Prof Hasan ends his term.
Prof Barua completed his MBBS from Dhaka Medical College in 1977 and holds the position of president of Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons.
Also, he has been the first vice-president of Bangladesh Medical Association and Swadhinata Chikitsak Parishad.
