No MCQ in primary examinations: Minister

The government has decided to drop Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) in Primary Education Completion (PEC) examinations from this year.

Primary and Mass Education Minister Mostafizur Rahman came up with the statement on Tuesday at a press briefing at his Secretariat office.

"We have decided to drop the MCQ in the next PEC examinations and the decision came following the recommendations of educationalists to prevent question paper leaks in public examinations," he said.

According to UNB, the minister held the press briefing to announce the primary education completion scholarship results.

He said the next PEC examination will be held in November. "So, there will be no problem to drop MCQ," he added.

The students are taught according to the syllabus and the question will be made from it, he said.

Secretary of ministry Asif-uz-Zaman, Additional Secretaries Md Gias Uddin Ahmed and Akram-al Hossain, among others, were present at the press briefing.

A total of 82,500 students got scholarships in two categories in the primary terminal examinations this year.
