The English department of the Islamic University celebrated its 25th anniversary on Saturday amid much enthusiasm and festivity.
Former and current teachers, students, officials of the department brought out a colourful procession on the university campus in Kushtia to mark the silver jubilee, says a UNB report.
Vice-Chancellor of IU, M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari, inaugurated the event while pro-VC Professor M Shahinoor Rahman and IU treasurer Professor M Selim Toha attended the function with Professor AHM Aktarul Islam Zillu, Chairman of English department, in the chair.
Later, a discussion session was held at Birshrestha Hamidur Rahman Auditorium of the university, followed by a sports competition, raffle draw and a cultural function.
