IBA clinches Battle of Minds 2018 trophy

The results of 15th edition of “Battle of Minds 2018” was announced recently.

 “Je Ne Sais Quoi” of IBA was declared as the champion, followed by First Runner-up “Undercats” from Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP)” and Second Runner-up “IUT Z” of Islamic University of Technology, said a statement.

The Champion and the first Runner-up from this competition will represent Bangladesh in the regional level amongst over 20 other countries of Asia and Middle East.

“Battle of Minds” is a skill development platform for the youth of Bangladesh, which bridges the divide between institutional education and corporate world experience. “Battle of Minds” is committed to the development of human resources in Bangladesh, primarily the youth.

Barrister Nihad Kabir, President of the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dhaka (MCCI), attended the ceremony as the chief guest, on Sunday, at Radisson Blu Dhaka.

The event was attended by eminent personalities from academia and other fields and parents of the participants. A total of 3,300 students from 42 universities across the country, participated from academic background of Agriculture, Soil Science, Engineering and Business. 150 candidates were selected and participated in the boot camp training session. 36 candidates grouped in 12 teams competed in the semi-final round and through that 6 teams qualified to compete in the grand finale.

The teams that reached the finale are: Je Ne Sais Quoi (Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Fit Streak (IBA), Brains of Castamere (IBA), IUT Z Islamic University of Technology (IUT), Under Cats Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) and Last Second (BUP). The topics included in the competition were: transformation of footwear industry, modernization of rickshaw, education through game app and smart & innovative way for health solution. The challenging segment for the participants in the semi-final round was to fit in their case on how it will cater for the market of Bangladesh and facilitate in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

In the final round, the participants were challenged to prove how their proposed idea could be activated in real life setting through product prototyping, social media platform or by physical activation. Online and offline methods have been developed, in various steps, to solve problems and contribute to the social structure. The final plan was presented to industry experts, in the grand finale. For the first time on this platform, the winner would be competing for the championship, at a global stage.
