The government is working through taking ICT-based programmes to ensure quality of education.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid made the comment at a function at Gopalganj upazila in Sylhet on Monday.

"In a technology-based globalised world, quality education is crucial for any country. The government has realised the fact and executed its plans accordingly," he said.

At the function, the minister distributed laptops among headmasters of 24 primary schools of the Gopalganj upazila.

Nahid said despite a number of challenges, Bangladesh has some remarkable and praiseworthy achievements in the education sector.

He urged the students to acquire knowledge on modern education aiming to keep up with the changing world of job markets.

"It is urgent to prepare curriculum incorporating ICT to make the students efficient workforces, Nahid added.

"To maximise the benefit of using ICT in a classroom, we need a bunch of trained, motivated and technology-friendly teachers who will make the whole process effective and successful," the minister said, adding the government is providing training to enhance the capacity of teachers, reports BSS.
