Dhaka University has filed a case accusing at least 50 unidentified students of vandalising the gate of its Proctor’s office.

Officer-in-Charge of Shahbagh Police Station Abul Hossain said they filed the case on Thursday afternoon.

A day before, a group of students formed a human chain demanding punishment to those involved in ‘sexually harassing’ some girl students during an anti-college affiliation protest on Monday.

Organised under the banner of `Anti-harassment students’ movement’ they alleged that those who were involved in the harassment are leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League.

After the human chain, they marched towards the proctor’s office to meet him around 1 pm, but found it locked from inside.

They got angry at this and chanted slogans demanding punishment to the perpetrators and then broke the lock of the gate of the proctor’s office and took position in front of his room.

Proctor Prof AKM Golam Rabbani later came out of his office and assured the protesters of forming a probe body and publishing its report over the incident in seven days.
