Bangladesh participates in global tech summit

Bangladesh’s technology scene is changing rapidly. Besides, tech startups, small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are providing a mentionable boost towards the economy for a long time. Google Business Group (GBG), a voluntary community, is also playing a great role for the tech development in our country. Three Local GBG chapters which are supported by Google is operating in Bangladesh from 2012. The chapters are GBG Khulna, GBG Dhaka and GBG Sonargaon.
Google Business Group Chapters from all over the worlds attended the first ever GBG Global Summit 2017 in Google Asia Pacific Head Quarter from October 18 to 20. The Local Chapter Managers and Women Leads from Bangladesh also attended the event with other community members from 27 countries. The summit included events like community collaboration tasks, hands on workshops, innovation thinking training, new product demonstrations from Google etc.
Khan Tanjeel Ahmed, co-founder or Techsetra and co-manager of GBG Khulna, said that, this summit was a breakthrough and a step forward for all the chapters around the world. He has already discussed with and is looking forward for workshop collaboration with the local chapters in India, Malaysia and Brazil. Besides, he is also creating university collaboration throughout the whole Khulna division with GBG Khulna, so that the students can get used to entrepreneurial ecosystem before starting their career. Alif Laila Nabila, women lead of GBG Khulna, also participated in the summit. Shourav Islam, CEO of Unifox Digital Media is the manager of GBG Dhaka and one of the digital media pioneers in Bangladesh.
In the summit, he discussed with the global community operators about more innovative ideas which will help the rural people to have access to digital innovations. GBG Sonargaon was represented by Sayed Rafiul Islam and Narmin Tartila Banu. The global community leaders Sami Kizilbash, Erica Hanson and Marcus Foon appreciated the participation of local chapters from Bangladesh.
GBG chapters in Dhaka, Khulna and Sonargaon are going to launch 'Womenwill' into their community soon. Womenwill is a focused project to empower women entrepreneurs into the community. The focus of GBG community in Bangladesh is to help the startup founders, small and medium businesses in local community to have access of technology and get most out of it. There are mentionable success stories like Direct Fresh, which had a collaboration with GBG Dhaka and used Google tools for their business growth.
Google Business Group (GBG) is a community of business professionals sharing knowledge about web technologies for business success. It is run by business professionals, passionate about bringing the benefits of the web to their local business communities, on a volunteer, unpaid basis.
