Fire breaks out at knitting factory in Gazipur

A fire broke out at a knitting factory in the Konabari area of Gazipur city on Wednesday.

Tasharraf Hossain, senior inspector of Joydebpur Fire Station, said the blaze started around 12 am at a shed of Jersy Knitting factory and soon engulfed other parts of the manufacturing unit, reports UNB.

On information, six firefighting units rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze in a couple of hours. Equipment worth lakhs have been gutted in the fire, officials said.

"A probe has been ordered to ascertain the exact cause of the fire. The exact extent of loss will also be ascertained after the investigation," said Tasharraf.

There was no report of any casualty in the fire.
