FE Online Report | Thursday, 29 October 2020

Environmental experts on Thursday urged the authorities concerned to pass regulation in a bid to ban ‘Lead Paint’ in the country citing its adverse impact of lead on biodiversity.

They campaigned on the adverse effect of lead paint and thus urging the government to opt for a complete ban of leaded paint in Bangladesh, saying “enforcement of the lead paint standard should be applicable for all type of paints and it’s an urgent need for a regulation.”

Environmental activist and experts made the call at a seminar titled ‘Ban Lead Paint: Update and Implement Regulation for All Leaded Paint’ marking the ‘International Lead Poisoning Prevention Week-2020’.

Environment and Social Development Organization (ESDO) organised the event.

Md Mohibur Rahman, Additional Secretary, Health Service Division, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, addressed the event as the special guests.
