Coalmine blast leaves nine miners in Pakistan

At least nine miners were killed in an explosion in a coal mine near the northwestern town of Kohat in Pakistan on Wednesday, a government official said.

Senior government official Khalid Ilyas said three coal miners were injured in the incident in northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province bordering Afghanistan, reports AP.

Ilyas said a rescue operation was launched shortly after the blast and officers were still investigating.
