Former Indian President Pranab Mukherjee said Bangladesh government and its people are the genuine friends, associates and well-wishers of India.
The former Indian President came up with the comments in a letter sent to Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen, said a press release of the Foreign Ministry issued on Wednesday.
Pranab said it was his fortune that he had maintained deep relations with Bangladesh since its independence and he had efforts to deepen the relations gradually.
Lauding Dr Momen, he said the appointment of Momen as the foreign minister is certainly an indicator of his competency, sincerity and skillfulness.
The former Indian President said he had a scope to work with former Finance Minister AMA Muhith, the elder brother of the Bangladesh foreign minister, when Muhith was the finance minister in Bangladesh.
He also congratulated Dr Momen and the people of Bangladesh in his letter, reports BSS.
