A Gazipur court on Tuesday sentenced a woman and her lover to death for killing her husband in 2012 over an extramarital affair in Sataish area of Tongi.
The convicts are Nazma Begum, wife of victim Abdul Hannan and daughter of Mozahar Ali Master of Ekdala village in Sirajgang, and Mannan Hossain, son of Abdul Barej Bishwas of Sonatanpur village in Jhenaidah.
Gazipur Additional Session Judge Md Iqbal Hossain passed the order in presence of the accused in the dock.
UNB said the court also fined them Tk 10,000 each, said Public Prosecutor Advocate Harisuddin Ahmed.
According to the case statement, Nazma and Mannan with whom she allegedly had an extramarital affair strangulated Abdul Hannan to death on January 27 in 2012, in Sataish area of Tongi.
On the next day, police recovered the body and victim's brother Abdul Mannan filed a case with Tongi Police Station.
On June 11, 2012, police filed a charge sheet against the two accused.
