Viqarunnisa Noon School and College has suspended all classes and exams until further notice amid protests over the suicide of a student after humiliation by teachers.

Mushtari Sultana, a Viqarunnisa teacher, announced the decision on behalf of Principal Nazneen Ferdous on Wednesday.

“We made the decision to express solidarity with the students. All classes from first to twelfth will remain suspended until further notice. The decision applies to all branches,” she said.

Principal Nazneen Ferdous, one of the disgraced teachers who face calls for resignation, avoided the media on Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, a group of students gathered outside the Viqarunnisa Noon School and College on Bailey Road in Dhaka, demanding justice for the death of Aritry Adhikary, a ninth-grade student.

Another group inside the school defended the teachers saying all the allegations are not completely true, reports bdnews24.

“The whole matter has ended up in the court. The court will take its decision,” said Mushtari.
