Two people were killed and another injured when an oil tanker hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Faridganj-Raiganj road at Chatura area in Faridganj upazila of Chandpur district on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as auto-rickshaw driver Jahangir, 40, of Laxmipur district and Ruma Begum, 30, of Faridganj upazila, reports UNB.
The accident occurred around 8:00 am when the Faridganj-bound oil tanker from Raiganj hit the three-wheeler as one of its wheels got punctured, said Shahid Hossain, officer-in-charge of Faridganj Police Station.
Both the vehicles plunged into the roadside ditch, leaving three people in the auto-rickshaw injured.
Later, they were taken to Faridganj Upazila Health Complex where the doctors declared two of them dead.
