Six revenue inspectors of WASA were relieved of their responsibilities for misusing power and tampering with water bills during a drive conducted by the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) on Sunday.

The Anti-graft watchdog conducted the drive at the WASA’s Mirpur regional office in the capital after receiving multiple complaints from consumers at their hotline.

An ACC team led by Assistant Director Md Salauddin conducted the raid under the direct supervision of acting Director General of ACC (Resistance) and Chief Coordinator of Enforcement Sarwar Mahmud.

The released officials are: Emdadul Haque, Ashraful Hasan, Mahmudul Hasan, Badruzzaman (Badal), Abu Taleb and Abu Talha.

Sarwar Mahmud said he expressed his thanks to WASA for the punitive move.

He said such drives will continue to check corruption, adding that the concerted efforts are needed to wipe out immoral practices.

The ACC team also directed the WASA authorities to take action against the corrupted officials.
