Six foreigners on three-day remand over ATM forgery

A Dhaka court has granted three-day remand to interrogate six Ukraine nationals over their alleged connection with recent ATM booth forgery.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Dhiman Chandra Mondol passed the order on Monday after police sought eight days to interrogate the alleged fraudsters, report BSS and bdnews24.com.

Six foreigners are: Dennis Vitomeski, 20, Nazari Vojnok, 19, Valentine Sokolovski, 37, Sergei Ukrainetz, 33, Shevchuk Oleg, 46 and Valodimir Trushiniski, 37.

Earlier, they were arrested by Detective Branch (DB) Police on Saturday for hacking into an ATM of a private bank using digital forgery to withdraw money from it.

Deputy Commissioner of DB of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Md Nurnabi said that the arrestees are nationals of Ukraine.

Md Nurnabi said Dennis Vitomeski was arrested while withdrawing money from a booth of Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited after hacking the system of the booth in the Khilgaon area in DHaka.

Later, five others were arrested from a city hotel at Panthapath.
