Two people were killed and 16 others sustained injuries in a road accident on Khulna-Mawa highway in Fakirhat upazila of Bagerhat on early Saturday.
All the casualties were identified as hailing from Morrelganj and Sarankhola upazila of the district.
Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Fakirhat station, Sanjoy dey, said the accident happened as a passenger bus hit a truck from the rear side.
Some of the injured were rushed to Fakirhat Upazila Health Complex and the rest to Khulna Medical College and Hospital (KMCH) for treatment, according to local media.
Two of the victims succumbed to their injuries at Khulna city hospital, confirmed a duty doctor. The bus helper was among the dead.
