A Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) team has seized 200 bars of gold weighing about 23 kilograms on the bank of the Padma in Dhaka’s Dohar area.
They also arrested five suspects in this connection.
Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Alep Uddin, adjutant staff officer of RAB-11, confirmed the gold confiscation, bdnews24 reported.
After receiving a tip on Friday morning that the smugglers were on the riverbank with the gold, a RAB team conducted a raid on the riverbank, he said.
