The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has detained three members of a human trafficking ring involved with the  recent boat capsize in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Tunisia.

The trio were Abdur Razzak Bhuiyan, 34, Akkach Matubbar, 39, and Amanul Haque Talukdar, 46, said Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan, senior assistant director of Rab’s legal and media wing, said.

A boat bound for Europe from Libya capsized in the sea on May 9 with 75 migrant people, including 54 Bangladeshis, aboard, local media reported.

Of the Bangladeshis, 14 were rescued alive while 40 others, still missing, are feared to have been dead, according to Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen.

The Foreign Ministry on Wednesday released a list of 39 Bangladeshis who have remained missing since the boat capsize.
