Psychodrama can change youths’ sexual behaviour: Study

Psychodrama system, a type of intervention, will protect youths from risky sexual behaviour, reveals a study.

The study also suggested that the youths living in slums are a highly vulnerable community as they practice risky sexual behaviour on social media.

The study was released on Monday at a project sharing meeting at Brac Inn in the capital conducted by Brac James P Grant School of Public Health of the university.

Former Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor was the chief guest at the function while Brac James P Grant School of Public Health Research Director Prof Malabika Sarker presided over the event.

Directorate of Health Services Additional Director General Prof Nasima Sultana was the special guest at the programme.

The study also found risky sexual behaviour among youths of age level 18-29 during conducting project assessment.

Organisers also introduced an application where youths can learn about sexual and reproductive health issues using mobile phone.

 Several meeting were conducted with youths living in slums for improving their behaviour through psychodrama under the project.

Netherlands-based Rotterdam Global Health Initiative of Erasmus University, Kikid, National Mental Health Institute and Bandhu Welfare Society are partners of the project supported by NOW-WOTRO Science for Global Development programme.
