President off to Kathmandu

President Abdul Hamid left Dhaka for Kathmandu on Tuesday on a four-day visit to Nepal at the invitation of Nepalese President Bidhya Devi Bhandari.

A flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the President took off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 12:00pm, Assistant Press Secretary to President Imranul Hasan said, reports UNB.

Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, Road and Bridges  Minister Obaidul Quader, State minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Mahbul Ali, dean of the diplomatic core, cabinet secretary, chiefs of the three forces, Inspector General of Police (IGP) high civil and military officials were present at the airport to see the President off. 

The Nepalese President and Bangladesh Ambassador to Nepal Mashfee Binte Shams will receive Abdul Hamid at Tribhuvan International Airport of Nepal.

Foreign Minister of Nepal Pradeep Kumar Gyawali will call on President Abdul Hamid at the hotel Marriott Kathmandu later today.

During the visit, Chairman of the National Assembly (Upper House) Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, former Prime Minister and Co-chairman of the Nepal Communist Party (ruling party) Pushpa Kamal Dahal, President of the Nepali Congress Party and Leader of the Opposition Sher Bahadur Deuba and Prime Minister and Chairman of the Nepal Communist Party KP Sharma Oli will also call on President Hamid.

Besides, a bilateral meeting between the Presidents of the two countries will be held on the same day at Sital Niwas (Presidential House) of Nepal.

President Hamid will visit the UNESCO heritage site Bhaktapur Durbar Square and various temples in Kathmandu. 

He will also join the dinner to be hosted by Ambassador of Bangladesh to Nepal at Bangladesh House of Bansbari in Kathmandu on the same day.  

Abdul Hamid will visit Pokhara on November 14 and attend the programme to be organised by Bangladesh Club, Bangladesh Community members living in Kathmandu.

He will visit Chandragiir hills on the last day of the visit on November 15. 

The President will leave Tribhuvan International Airport at 5:00pm on the day and the flight carrying him will land at the Dhaka airport at 6:30pm. 

Secretaries concerned to the President and his family members are also accompanying the President.
