Preserve archeological sites to promote tourism: JS body

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Cultural Affairs Ministry on Tuesday suggested for finding out archeological assets and doing necessary reform, preservation and display of antiquities to draw attraction of local and foreign tourists.

The committee in its maiden meeting also discussed overall activities, including various achievements of the concerned ministry and stressed on completing the works of 19 development projects undertaken in last five years, said a Parliament Secretariat handout this afternoon.

Held at the Parliament Complex, Committee Chairperson Simeen Hussain (Rimi) presided over the meeting, reports BSS.

Committee members: State Minister for Cultural Affairs Ministry KM Khalid, Momtaz Begum, Asaduzzaman Noor, Sagupta Yasmin, Subarna Mostafa, Selina Islam and Masuda M Rashid Chowdhury attended the meeting.

Acting secretary of the concerned ministry, managing directors of Bangla Academy, Shilpakala Academy, Directorate of Archives and Libraries and Bangladesh National Museum, senior officials of the ministry and Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat were also present in the meeting.
