Police arrested a local leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) in possession of 74 pieces of Yaba tablets from Khadiza Medical area in Mathbaria upazila of Pirojpur district on Monday night.
The detainee was identified as Ehsanul Haque Montu (29), son of Abdus Sattar, hailing from Patakata village under Dhanisafa union of the district and the vice-president of the Mathbaria upazila unit of BCL, a news agency reported.
Tariqul Islam, the Officer-in-Charge of Mathbaria Police Station said tipped off, a team of police conducted a drive in the area and arrested Ehsan along with 74 pieces of Yaba pills.
A case was filed against Tariqul in this connection, said the OC.
Contacted, Pirojpur district unit BCL general secretary Khairul Islam Mithu said organisational measures are being taken against Ehsanul Haque over the incident.
