A pick-up van has rammed into a parked truck in Gazipur’s Sadar Upazila, killing a man instantly and injuring five others amid an ongoing student campaign for safe roads.
The accident took place in the Member Bari area on the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway around 5:15am on Sunday, said Md Alamin, an officer of Sreepur Fire Station.
The man has been identified as Lalchan Miah, 32, a resident of Jarakhola area in Sirajganj’s Shahzadpur, reports bdnews24.
“A pick-up van was heading from Savar to Mymensingh. The driver lost control of the vehicle and smashed into a parked truck, leaving one dead on the spot, said Alamin.
The firefighters recovered the injured and took them to a local hospital.
