Pahela Baishakh being celebrated in Mymensingh

Pahela Baishakh, the first day of the Bangla Noborsho-1429, is being celebrated in the Mymensingh district with fanfare and festivity. 

Mymensingh district administration, different socio-cultural organisations and political parties chalked out elaborate programmes marking the day. 

The programmes include colourful mangal shubajatra, painting and essay competition on Bengali New year and Bangabandhu at the government public library, Baishakhi Mela on Omed Ali PlayGround, cultural function at Baishakhi Moncha in the park area in the city, reports BSS. 

Mymensingh District Administration began the day with Mongol Shobhajatra that started from Mukul Niketan High School at 9:00 am and ended at Baishakhi Moncha in park area after parading different city streets. 

State Minister for Housing and Public Works Sharif Ahamed, MP, formally inaugurated the day's programme through opening the colourful shubajatra. 

 Divisional Commissioner Md. Shafiqur Reza Biswas, DIG (in-charge) Md Shah Abid Hossain, Deputy Commissioner Md. Enamul Haque, Police Super Ahamaruzzaman and leaders of different political parties and organisations were present. 

Later, a cultural function was held at Baishakhi Moncha. On the occasion, a Baishakhi Mela is being held at Omed Ali Play Ground. 

Improved Bangali diets will be served at hospital, orphanage Centres and central jail. 

Besides, different socio cultural organisations are being observed the Pahela Baishakh with various programmes. 

The Pahela Baishakh is also being celebrated in all 13 upazilas of the district with festivity.
