Over 27.70m people get govt relief amid COVID-19 pandemic

A total of 27.70 million people have reaped the benefit of government’s relief so far in the wake of the deadly novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

About 92,480 tonnes of rice has been allocated as humanitarian assistance while 71,098 tonnes of it have already been distributed so far, according to the information received from 64 district administrations across the country, reports BSS.

As a result, the number of beneficiaries from the relief stands over 27.70 million while the beneficiary families is 60,90,090, said a press release of Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief today.

According to the release, a total of TK 39,70,54,164 has been allocated as financial assistance so far in 64 districts and TK 31,24,04,882 has been distributed to mitigate people’s hardship during the ongoing crisis.

The government took time-befitting approaches through providing relief materials in mitigating people’s sufferings during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic across the country, added the release.
