Over 200 Rohingyas were sent back to refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar after being stopped from moving to various parts of Bangladesh.

Inspector General of Police AKM Shahidul Hoque revealed the information while briefing the media on security on Monday, reports bdnews24.com.

“We should have arrested them for illegal entry. But we considered the humanitarian side and sent them back to the camps,” the IGP said.

The law enforcers are working to make sure the refugees do not take the help of fraud middlemen to go beyond the camps, said Hoque.

Asked about leaders of the Jamaat-e-Islami who were seen distributing relief in refugee camps, he said, “We will not let anyone spread radicalism here.”

“The deputy commissioner of Cox’s Bazar has to be informed about relief efforts in the camps. They just can’t go in and start distributing relief,” he added.
