Jatiya Oikyafront chief Dr Kamal Hossain on Saturday said Moulana Bhasani will be their source of inspiration to win the forthcoming polls.
"Moulana Bhasani had played the key role in all the major movements of the country. He is our leader and the guru of Bangabandhu. He is our source of inspiration," he said.
Dr Kamal made the remarks after paying homage to Bhasani by placing wreaths together with senior Oikyafront leaders at his grave at Santosh, marking the great leader's 42nd death anniversary, reports UNB.
He further said, "Moulana Bhasani will inspire us to make all of our movements successful, and win the election in a favour of people."
Dr Kamal along with Krishak Sramik Janata League president Abdul Kader Siddique, BNP vice chairman Abdullah Al Noman, Gono Forum general secretary Mostofa Mohsin Montu, Jatiya Oikya Prokriya leader Sultan Mohammad Mansur and other senior leaders and alliance also offered fateha at Bhasani's grave and prayed for salvation of his departed soul.
Talking to reporters, Kader Siddiqui said the black cloud that gathered in the sky of Bangladesh will disappear soon and the country's people will get back their rights, dignity and the guarantee of a natural death.
Abdullah Al Noman said the Election Commission is yet to ensure a level-playing field as it is working at the dictate of the government instead of discharging its constitutional duty properly and independently.
He said the government is trying to keep the Oikyafront away from the election with various evil designs. "We don't want to quit the election as we want to take part in it with Khaleda Zia."
The 42nd death anniversary of Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani, a great national leader, is being observed on Saturday with due respect.
Bhasani, popularly known as 'Majlum Jananeta', the leader of the downtrodden, passed away on November 17, 1976.
