Nor’wester leaves two dead in city

A storm in the capital left two persons dead on Sunday evening as gusty winds felled trees, uprooted utility poles and blown away billboards.

A tea seller died after being struck by a falling brick from a building at Paltan during the storm.

The victim, Md Hanif, 45, was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, but the duty-doctors declared him dead.

None of the nearby buildings was under construction, Paltan Police Station OC Mahmudul Haque said, reports bdnews24.com.

“We are not sure from which building the brick fell,” he said.

An unidentified woman died after an uprooted tree fell on her in parliament area, said Jan-e-Alam, OC of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station.
