The condition of ailing Awami League presidium member and former health minister Mohammed Nasim is unchanged as he still remains in ‘coma’.

He is currently in ventilation support at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Bangladesh Specialised Hospital at Shyamoli in the capital, reports BSS.

Nasim underwent an urgent brain surgery at the Bangladesh Specialized Hospital on Friday.

“His condition is like yesterday, there is no change, he is in ‘coma”, said Vice Chancellor and Neurosurgeon Professor of Neurosurgery Department of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Dr Kanak Kanti Barua on Sunday.

He is leading a five-member medical team that was formed yesterday for better treatment of Nasim, also the spokesperson on 14-party alliance.

Barua was speaking at a press briefing on the hospital premises this noon.

“He (Nasim) is in ventilation since the operation. We have increased his observation period for 72 hours from 24 hours,” he added.

On June 1, Nasim was admitted to Bangladesh Specialised Hospital with COVID-19 symptoms, including fever and cold.

He was later tested positive for COVID-19 and was rushed into surgery on Friday after suffering a brain hemorrhage.
