A housewife was strangulated to death by some miscreants at Nagbati village in Shyamnagar upazila in Satkhira on Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Jebunnesa, 50, wife of Abdul Aziz Sardar.
Locals said that a group of miscreants entered the house of Aziz when he went to mosque for Tarabi prayers.
The miscreants strangulated Jebunnesa to death and took way two mobile phone sets along with pair of ear rings from her.
After returning from prayer, Aziz found his wife dead and informed neighbours.
Later police recovered the body and detained Aziz for questioning, said Syed Mannan Ali, officer-in-charge of Shyamnagar Police Station, reports UNB.
