An activist of United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) was shot dead reportedly by members of a breakaway rival faction at Betchari area of Naniarchar Upazila in Rangamati on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Jony Tangchanga, 42, hailing from Rajasthali in the district.
Witnesses said a group of armed people fired on Jony in the afternoon while he was taking tea at a tea stall at the place and fled the scene immediately. Jony died on the spot.
Officer-in-Charge of Naniarchar Police Station confirmed the death, reports UNB.
