A sexagenarian man has been killed in a clash between two groups of villagers over a cricket match amid the ongoing lockdown at Dadpur in Boalmari upazila of Faridpur district.

The deceased was identified as Mansur Mollah, 65, of the village, reports UNB.

Aminur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Boalmari Police Station, said Abu Bakkar, son of Fazal Khann, and Kibria Mollah, son of Soleman Mollah of the village, picked up a quarrel over playing cricket on Tuesday evening when a scuffle took place between them.

Around 8:00pm, the supporters of Fazal Khan swooped on the house of Soleman Mollah, triggering a clash.

At one stage, Mansur, a neighbour of Soleman, came to the spot to settle the issue but he was hit in the head with a hard object, leaving him injured.

He was taken to Faridpur General Hospital where doctors declared him dead around 1:00am.
