Customs officials arrested a man along with 130 gold bars weighing about 16 kilogrammes from Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram on Friday.
The arrestee has been identified as Joynal Abedin, reports a news agency.
Readul Islam, deputy-commissioner of Chattogram Customs, said a flight of ‘Air Arabia’ landed at the airport at around 9:00am.
Tipped off, a team of Customs officials challenged Joynal Abedin, who came here from Sharjah by the flight, and after searching his luggage the customs officials recovered the gold bars concealed in six charger lights.
A case will be filed with Patenga Police Station.
