A leader of Liberal Democratic Party has been detained with seven bullets at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.

LDP Secretary General Redwan Ahmed was detained for carrying the bullets into the airport without notifying the authorities about it on Monday, the airport’s Aviation Security Forces Director Nur Alam Siddique said.

Redwan Ahmed was expected to fly to Chattogram at 7:15am on a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines. The security officials detected the bullets with a magazine while scanning his bag at the domestic terminal’s check point, reports bdnews24.com.

“The airport authorities handed him to police after initial interrogation for carrying the bullets in his bag without prior declaration. He said he has a licensed gun,” said Siddique.

Airport Police Station OC Noor-e-Azam Mia said, “Although he has legal documents of his weapon, he carried it without declaration at the airport. That's why he was sent to the court.”
