Journalist Rahman Jahangir laid to eternal rest

Noted journalist Rahman Jahangir was laid to eternal rest at his family graveyard at Masunda village under Matlab South upazila in Chandpur on Tuesday.

He was buried following a namaz-e-janaza around 11:00am. People from all walks of life attended the janaza.

Rahman Jahangir, founding news editor of The Daily Independent and former joint news editor of The Daily Star, breathed his last at Labaid Hospital in the capital early Monday at the age of 69. He was the editorial consultant of The Financial Express and also a permanent member of the Jatiya Press Club.

Meanwhile, Jatiya Press Club president Muhammad Shafiqur Rahman and general secretary Farida Yasmin expressed deep shock at his death.

Born on July 4, 1950 in the capital, he did his honours and masters in economics from Dhaka University.
