Income tax fair from Thursday

The weeklong national income tax fair-2019 will begin on Thursday across the country aiming to encourage potential taxpayers and increase awareness among the people.

Chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) Md Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan, confirmed the matter on Tuesday at a press conference and said that they have set a target to collect more than Tk 30 billion (Tk 3,000 crore) as revenue during the tax fair.

The NBR will organise its 10th annual Tax Fair at the Officers’ Club in the capital that will continue until November 20 while the fairs at district level will be held for  three to four days.

NBR sources said that in addition to seven divisional headquarters, the fair will also begin at six districts -Narayanganj, Munshiganj, Gazipur, Madaripur, Cumilla and Bogura and three upazilas- Chauddagram of Cumilla, Madhabdi and Raipura of Narsingdi.

Separate booths of Sonali Bank, Janata Bank and BASIC Bank will be installed at the fair venues for receiving taxes.

The fair will remain open from 9:00am to 5:00pm for taxpayers and visitors. Like previous year the highest taxpayers will be awarded this year, reports UNB.
