IGP off to China to attend Interpol General Assembly

Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hoque left Dhaka for Beijing in China on Friday night to attend the 86th General Assembly of Interpol.

 

The conference will be held at China Convention Centre in Beijing from September 26 to 29, aimed at extending supports among the Interpol member states to effectively fight terrorism and militancy, said an official release of Police Headquarters.

 

A five-member of delegation of Bangladesh led by the police chief will take part in the conference along with the police chiefs of member states and experts, reports BSS.

 

Four other members of the delegation are: deputy inspector general (DIG-operations) Barrister Mahbubur Rahman, assistant inspector of police (AIG-NCB) Md Mahbubur Rahman Bhuiyan, AIG (intelligence and special affairs) Md Moniruzzaman and additional police super Akter Hossain.

 

Bangladesh police chief will give a speech on 'Counter Terrorism: Perspective Bangladesh' in the conference where he will put focus on the recent success of the law enforcement agencies in containing militancy.

 

Besides attending the assembly, the police chief will also hold meetings of bilateral interests with police chiefs of different states.
