Human rights violators ‘will be brought to book’

Law Minister Anisul Huq on Thursday warned of tougher actions against the human rights violators in the country.

He said, “The government has made its position clear about human rights violation. Those who will violate human rights will be brought to book.”

The law minister came up with the remarks at a meeting with five –member representative of the United Nations (UN) at the secretariat in the capital.

Human rights situation has improved a lot in the country because of the government’s proper and befitting initiatives, said Anisul Huq.

Senior human rights advisers of UN Heika Alefsen and Shoko Ishikawa, among others, were present.

Mr Heika Alefsen hoped that Bangladesh would continue its efforts to improve the human rights and take necessary actions against the human rights violators.
