HC asks for BRTA explanation over unfit vehicles

The High Court (HC) on Wednesday asked a director of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) to appear before it on April 30 and explain the reasons behind letting 70 thousand unfit vehicles to ply the roads in capital.

A High Court division bench comprising Justice Md. Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice K. M. Hafizul Alam passed the order on suo moto, asking BRTA director (road safety) Mahbubey Rabbani to appear before it on April 30.

The court came up with the order as Barrister Mamun Mahbub drew its attention to a report of an English daily on the unfit vehicles. The court also issued a rule in this regard.

“The High Court has asked the BRTA director to appear before it on April 30 to give its explanation over the plying of unfit vehicles,” deputy attorney general AKM Amin Uddin Manik said, reports BSS.
